CarJump closes seed round to develop new carsharing products

April 10, 2014

High-Tech Gründerfonds invests in Berlin-based startup CarJump. The funds will be used to develop new products, which will enable interconnectivity between different mobility service providers.

CarJump has closed a seed round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds. The carsharing service provider, that trades under the name of GHM Mobile Development GmbH, has so far been publically known for its app (CarJump). The app is available for iOS and Android, and aggregates Germany’s leading carsharing providers. It thus enables its users to find the closest car nearby and to directly book vehicles from providers such as car2go, DriveNow or Multicity.

“Our app has connected us with Germany’s most frequent carsharing users and the leading providers. We therefore know where the users’ and providers’ pains really are and where improvements are most sought after. One single provider is never enough for the user, yet the annual driving license checks, ever new registrations and the amounting provider cards seem to be areas where progress is needed and would be most beneficial,” says Oliver Mackprang, CarJump’s CEO. The team around Oliver Mackprang, Philipp Heuberger and Mario Lebherz therefore plans to pilot a new product that interconnects different mobility services in cooperation with different carsharing providers.

“We expect that CarJump will establish itself as a hub between mobility providers. Innovative mobility concepts will shape the face of future cities. The tremendous growth of carsharing is just one part of the evolution. In order to secure the best possible customer benefit, we need connected mobility services. The CarJump team has got a very clear vision and the capabilities through its existing cooperations to make this happen,” says Stefan Wendel, High-Tech Gründerfonds. The proceeds from the investment round will mostly be required to fund the development of the new product.
