High-Tech Gründerfonds gathers EUR 10 billion in investment capital and hundreds of tech entrepreneurs from Europe on Family Day in Bonn

On 28 and 29 May, the startup scene will focus its attention on the former federal capital along the Rhine. During the course of the annual Family Day, High-Tech Gründerfonds will gather its entire network for the exchange of current developments and challenges in the innovation landscape. More than 300 tech companies are expected to attend from all over Europe.

In addition to representatives of the companies in the HTGF portfolio, renowned investors from Germany and abroad (with a total volume of around EUR 10 billion in investment capital) will be present in Bonn. As every year, Family Day connects the pioneers of the start-up industry with their innovative ideas with investors.

The Federal Minister for Economics Peter Altmaier, will open the two-day event with a greeting message followed by Dr. Michael Brandkamp, Managing Director of the HTGF, who will look to the future in his opening keynote speech:

“The conditions have never been better than today to be economically successful with good ideas. The future lies in digitalization and building sustainable business cycles, where we want to support and advance the best ideas. We are happy to give the HTGF portfolio companies the limelight and center-stage at our Family Day. “

Brandkamp describes: “As HTGF, we are typically involved in start-ups at an early-stage in their life cycle and after our participation, more investors join. To date, we have invested close to EUR 400 million in more than 540 different companies. In the following rounds, the founders in our portfolio were able to collect more than EUR 2 billion from other investors by utilizing our network for growth. In these hyper-connected times where having a relevant network is absolutely vital, we must not lose sight of the bigger picture. Europe must not lapse into regional thinking and must collaborate together to find great solutions to the pressing challenges of our time.”

Other keynote speakers at the event will include DHDL investor Frank Thelen, ex-football referee Urs Maier and extreme sportsman Joey Kelly. The topics of the talks range from decision-making under pressure, to an outlook on the technologies that will shape our future.

CEOs of successful companies from the HTGF portfolio will share their experiences during the two-day event, including Dr. Manfred Groeppel, who recently went public with Immunic on the US NASDAQ stock exchange. The program of the Family Day is rounded off by intensive pitching sessions, panels and sufficient opportunities for informal exchange.
