Notion Systems GmbH receives seed financing for the development of inkjet printers for printed electronics, photovoltaics and printed circuit boards

February 26, 2013

High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Georgieff Capital Beteiligungen and Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg (MBG) with the Seedfonds BW invest in Notion Systems GmbH, Schwetzingen, Germany.
Notion Systems develops inkjet, laser and automation equipment for technical applications. The financing enables the development of the n.jet lab inkjet printers to serial production. The printer provides customers at research institutes and various industries with a large variety of processes and a particularly easy way to the commercial production state.

The unique platform concept of the n.jet lab inkjet printers facilitates the upgrade from R&D scale to industrial production with great flexibility in the choice of the best fitting automation solution. A welcomed benefit is that the concept allows for the cost effective and highly precise processing of large substrates.

„The n.jet lab printer concept has been very well accepted by the market so far. During the design phase, we conducted a comprehensive survey of customers at research institutes and various industries. Our goal is to provide a cost effective, yet unique tool in its capabilities for the development of innovative processes and products.”, say Dr. Michael Doran and Carsten Schimansky of Notion Systems.

„The platform concept of the n.jet inkjet printers from Notion Systems bridges the gap between R&D and industrial applications, for example in the photovoltaics or display manufacturing industry. Our investment enables the development of further modules for additional applications.”, says Dr. Matthias Dill, Investment Manager at HTGF, justifying the investment decision.

Positioning precision in the micrometer range, a stable industrial built, a large variety of supported print head manufacturers and a broad selection of automation solutions distances the n.jet lab printers from other laboratory inkjet printers. Sharing the mechanical base with the n.jet lab inkjet, the development of Notion Systems production inkjet will be shortened and the associated cost reduced substantially.

„The Notion Systems team possesses considerable experience in the development and production of precise inkjet, laser and automation equipment. This leads to an extraordinarily short development time and a timely market entry.”, says Dr. Alexander Georgieff.

„The market volume of printed electronics will multiply within the next years. Notion Systems is well positioned to become a leading supplier of this market.“, says Florentin Walker, Investmentmanger at MBG.
