RapidTainment AG and High-Tech Gründerfonds invest in sevenload founders‘ Social Web Game

March 25, 2010

UP Web Game GmbH, a United Prototype project, is happy to welcome Swiss RapidTainment AG and German High-Tech Gründerfonds as new investors and shareholders. The transaction was made public today at the company’s housewarming party in Cologne, which was attended by several hundred people from politics, media and business.

Under the working title “Social Web Game” the company is currently developing a new kind of online game, which combines several already existing concepts and is targeted at a broadly defined audience. For now, the founders keep quiet about further details.

“People enjoy playing with each other,” the founders Ibrahim Evsan and Thomas Bachem comment “and the Internet makes it possible to realize completely new concepts.” Evsan and Bachem have developed the idea behind the game since 2005, until they put it aside for some time in order to found the video platform sevenload. “However, we are entrepreneurs, and sometimes you can’t let an idea go. This game is one of those very special projects, and we are happy to finally implement it together with strong partners”.

RapidTainment AG and High-Tech Gründerfonds take part in this seven-figure seed financing round with equal shares. Tobias Hartmann, who joined end of 2009 as co-founder: “Our two investors complement each other perfectly. RapidTainment AG is a very powerful partner with an exciting strategic vision, while High-Tech Gründerfonds contributes an excellent VC network and a high degree of professionalism”.

“RapidTainment AG was founded in order to bring entertainment content to market and to drive exciting concepts forward“, comments Bobby Chang, CEO of RapidTainment AG. “We are looking forward to the collaboration with this great team and we are proud to support this project“.

Andreas Quauke, Investment Manager with High Tech Gründerfonds sees a high potential in both the market and the team: “The Social Web Game fills a very attractive and still vacant niche in a market that doubles in size each year. In particular, we were attracted by the experienced and highly motivated team that has a high potential to bring this idea to market with high speed and quality”.
